Hey, I am Lisa-Maria Damm, working at the intersection of body, emotion, and feminist activism. Currently I am looking for a suitable place, it should have about 15 square meters, and I am dancing.
The performance approaches depression as a politically situated condition rather than an individual pathology. Drawing on Michel Foucault and feminist theories of situating sadness, it frames the high prevalence of depression among FLINTA as a consequence of patriarchal structures: unequal care labor, emotional availability, precarity, and the systematic invisibilization of exhaustion.
Through a sound installation with voices of affected FLINTA and the artist’s embodied performance, personal experiences unfold as a collective counter-narrative to isolation. The moving body becomes a material archive, negotiating heaviness, withdrawal, resistance, visibility, and disappearance. The performance space itself turns into a porous border zone where social expectations are inscribed into bodies.
