Muted Metropolis: Rethinking Silence In Urban Design
Searching for a venue, offering art
Text
We (Bridget & Lucie) are looking for a space for our installation and have no requirments of size as our artwork concept is concept only, and the final production will adjust to the space.
Muted Metropolis is an audio-visual spatial installation that exposes a profound silence within urban space: an enduring neglect of women (all who identify as women) in urban design.
Comprising:
- a large video projection
- a small screen
- and three audio-visual booth 'enclaves’
The installation intentionally creates spaces that are uncomfortable for visitors, emphasising the neglect of the consideration of women in urban design.
The work aims to expose a profound silence within urban space; an enduring neglect of (all who identify as) women in urban design and is informed by research on feminist urbanism, including Leslie Kern’s "Feminist City" and Caroline Perez’s ‘Invisible Women'.
We would love to hear from you, and are happy to send you more information, should you be interested in hosting us!
